     May Kay Spa Day: Cindy Burkhart and her husband, Frank, have moved into town. Cindy is Steve Spence’s sister. Steve is a past board member for Petey’s Playground and also served as honorary Mayor in Yarnell with Petey’s Playground being the recipient of Steve’s fundraising efforts. Cindy has jumped into community service like her brother. She will host a Mary Kay Spa Day at the Petey’s Playground Resource Center, 22448 State Route 89 in Yarnell, on August 21st at 2:30 pm. The Mary Kay line of products is well known for its quality and diversity. Come and pamper yourself. Part of the proceeds of the sales that day will be donated to Petey’s Playground.
      Jay is gone!: By the time you read this, our beloved plant guy, Jay Bowman, will be on his way to Cincinnati. If you have family in other parts of the country, you know how strong the pull is to be around them as we get older. And so it was with Jay. His mom, sister, kids and grandkids are in Cincinnati and he left to be closer to them. Jay was so humble and quiet about the immense gifts he gave to people around him. If you needed something and Jay had it he would share without strings or expectations. We will miss him so much. He created, launched and single handedly worked the Petey’s Playground plant and flower program. We will be forever grateful for the beauty and life he brought to us and the community. He made it look so fun that we are pretty stoked that someone has already stepped up to continue the program. Stay tuned to details but rest assured that the beauty will continue.
     Back to School Fundraiser: August 24th Petey’s Playground will be at the Peeples Valley Fire Auxiliary back to school fundraiser. Digger and Sable, two long haired female chihuahuas looking for a new home after their owner died will be there also along with raffles and tickets to the Celebrate a Pet Dinner.
     Celebrate a Pet Dinner: September 28th we will host a Celebrate A Pet Dinner at the Yarnell American Legion. Tickets are $20.00 and available at the Resource Center. We encourage people to buy Tickets in advance so we know how much food to prepare. The menu includes Old Fashioned Pot Roast, mashed potatoes and salad, with bread pudding for dessert. Dinner will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.
